After the first day of the draft ...

posted 04/27/2008

NFL Draft 2008 Well, I got my wish. Different choices than I had in mind, but a running back with big play potential first pick, a corner back 2nd pick who looked really good on the films ... and as a bonus, the third pick a big tight end. The Cowboys did good. I think real good. It will be interesting tomorrow to see where they go with their next picks.

The Chiefs probably did the best of all teams and I think Atlanta did real well. Oakland got their go to running back, and of course, they got their future QB last year ... so if they can protect them, they could be back on the upstream.

Wasn't real happy that the Eaglets got a wide out, but it was a good pick for them.

Miami also did real well, I expect that they will improve measurably this year. If they keep taking from the Cowboys, we may need to put a Cowboy hat on their mascot.Cool

The Female Perspective

It's kind of fun watching the NFL draft.  It reminds me of when we were kids choosing teams for a game of something. Seven USC players went on the first day, the 49ers got one of them.  I'm thinking the popularity of the USC players could very well have something to do with the fact that the Coach they'd had for the past few years has a good idea of what's expected from an NFL player.  Likely, he coaches his kids accordingly.

According to 49ers coach, Mike Nolan, the two picks they got from day 1 of this year's draft are expected to "have an impact on our roster this year."  The kid from USC was only a Junior, so the coach sees a little bit of a possible issue with his maturity, but they seem pretty pleased with their picks...and even a little surprised that Kentwan Balmer (the DT from North Carolina) was still availble at pick #29. Both kids seem happy with who drafted them, so that's nice.  We shall see what Day #2 holds - I guess they're still shopping for another inside linebacker, a corner and maybe even a wide receiver, but aren't necessarily pinning all those hopes on the draft.

We'll see if Sunday's results fill any of those spots.

sounds like some picks for "our" teams; oh it would be nice to see the Raiders do better; it would be great to have the 49ers become contenders once again, but if its the Cowboys' time, you enjoy it Michaeal, I know we would if it were the 49ers or Raiders. Enjoying your thoughts here of course.
